Poetry competition

 

 

The Poetry of Flowering Zijpe is enjoying growing interest. The participation increases again each year.

 

The poetry of 2018

 All poets of the Netherlands (professional or amateur) can participate in the Poetry challenge of 2017. The theme is: Who is the sister of the tulip?

Who makes the best poem on this challenging topic. It can be about the origin of the tulip in the Himalayas, the development and discovery of other bulbous plants, the growth of public interest, the meaning of the bulb for our country, how the bulb itself looks at its origine. or ...... the subject can be described poetically as wide as possible, but the theme has to be reflected.  The prize for the author of the best poem is a beautiful bunch of flowers and a large bulb package.

All high-quality entries will be displayed at various places during the Fietsdag and Hiking Day at the start and rest areas A3.
Moreover, on the exhibition (first prize and honorable mentions).

Conditions of participation:
Poems must not have been published or self-published earlier. It is also appreciated when they are not published by the poet before the date of the event starts.  Anyone may submit up to three poems.
The copyrights remain entirely by the contributor. The author grants through participation consent to the Flowering Zijpe Foundation for the publication of the poems in any form and at any time too- without any cost.  The copyright will be protected by this foundation.

The poem should be sent as follows:
- Font: Verdana; font size 14 pnts .; A4 format.
- Number of lines preferably 12 (less is also allowed), with an allowed maximum of 16 lines.
- As an attachment to an e-mail as a Word document.
- Indicate clearly: name;  Gender and date of birth; the complete address, phone number and email address.
- Entries must be received no later than March 1, 2018. Preferably earlier.

The award ceremony for the winning poem will be held during the opening of Blooming Zijpe 2018. The winner will receive a personal message.
